Open Question: What's wrong with my tongue?

The next morning the pain had spread, so i looked at my tongue and part of it had turned a yellowish color, and there were bumps on it, gradually getting larger toward the back. It looked like hairy tongue, but wasn't black. My mom thought it could be oral thrush. Today, the color is completely gone, all that remains are large bumps scattered around. I know that we have large taste buds in the back, but these are huge! Can anyone tell me what this might be? Am I on the right track? I'm hoping it's nothing serious like hpv or something. I haven't been with any new partner in several months.Answer Question
