I wasn't aware that i would have to go back for multiple visits. Today was part 1 of 4. So, my question is what happens during the second visit? Which visit is most painful?Answer Question

The dentist opens up the top of the tooth. Then he drills down into each root following the nerve channel with tiny drills, then larger ones, and finally using hand tools like little files enlarges the holes and pulls out any nerve or fleshy tissue. Then antiseptic material is placed in the roots to kill any bacteria, and finally a filling material is forced down into the nerve channels. To finish up, a white or metal filling is put on the top part of the tooth where it was opened up. They may make you come back if there was an absess in the tooth that they wanted to clear up with antibiotics, but I don't know why there would be 4 appointments unless the doctor was very busy and only had a half hour or so open each time.Fred Terance by Fred Terance Member since:May 04, 2011Total points:206 (Level 1)Day 1, first they drill into your tooth. Second they remove the infection which has built up and clean the tooth. Than they cover the tooth with a temporary filling. Day 2 they grind down the tooth with a drill then prepare for the crown. They will give you something to bite on which feels like playdough and it will take the shape of your teeth and jaw. After a day or 2 the crown will be ready and they will cover the tooth with it. I've had a million, I never want to see another dentist again for the rest of my life. That needle, I've had so many needles in my mouth I vow never to let my teeth get infected again.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOLLHNve_iA
