Yes. Anesthetic is routine even for fillings. You will get some for an extraction, either local (injection) or general (put to sleep, more rare these days).

Either way there will be no pain. We are lucky today because decades ago it never happened. You just had to grin and bear the pain!

Don't worry, you have nothing to fear. It will be an easy experience for you. I've been to the dentist more times than I can count on four hands!
