I got back from the dentist a couple of hours ago and I ate about 45 min after my appointment. I felt fine my tooth wasn't hurting. But now its been 3 hours and I ate some chips and it really hurt. I could barely finish the one I put in my mouth. What happened?

*at the dentist all I did was a teeth cleaning, noothing new
**but the hygenist kept poking my teeth with the sharp thing that they use for scraping stuff off your teeth. And when they did that it wasn't painful
