I lost a filling a few years back which resulted in a very deep filling. I was warned that the filling is so deep that there was a risk of needing a root canal if the problem was not solved by the filling. Last year I developed a small amount of aching and did the right thing and got myself down the the dentist ASAP. I have suffered abscesses before so did not want to risk that sort of pain.
Being pregnant at the time and unable to have xrays done, the dentist drilled my existing filling to "put something in to ease the inflammation" and put a temporary filling on top. I was then told that if after a month or two I no longer felt pain to come back for a permanent filling.

I returned to the dentist about a month ago as the pain was coming and going from one week to the next and thought this would be a good time for that root canal.
Instead the Dentist again did nothing claiming that there was nothing wrong with the tooth and didn't want to do anything invasive unless she had to. I was to come back AGAIN for that already mentioned permanent filling.
Well, now I'm in pain again. Not always. Every couple of days i get a searing pain in that tooth which lasts about a half hour and is helped by pain killers. It goes off for a few days and won't bother me for another week and so on. If I go to the Dentist i'm convinced i will leave for what will be a fourth time with nothing done to it!!
Should I maybe find a new Dentist?
