Open Question: Treatment for Class III Malocclusion and anterior crossbite?

The best option is usually a conservative treatment (one that doesn't require anesthesia and a scalpel), thus most issues should be able to be resolved with orthodontics. The malocclusion will be minimized with braces, and will correct the bite occlusion of the molars, in addition to any minor visible disalignment of the anterior teeth.

Apparently, surgery isn't your only option if the dentist referred you to an orthodontist, instead of a maxillofacial surgeon. Even if you were to have surgery, you could still expect to be a candidate for braces, in order to correct any alignment issues not rectified with the surgery.
