Open Question: Is it possible to suddenly get a bunch of cavities?

I'm 15, and I have never had a cavity before. Now, I can spot a small one and a very small on on each of my bottom first molars, and there might me more. I got my braces off about a year ago, and I remember my mom commenting on how yellow they looked. They are continuing to get more yellow, even though I brush 2 times a day a floss about once a week (I know, I could floss more). I recently starting using mouth wash, too.

Is it strange to get a lot of cavities from not having any before? My diet isn't bad, in fact I don't eat as much sugar as I did and I rarely drink soda. I am terrified and yet wanting to get the visit to the dentist this summer over with because I know they will say I have 2 or more cavities and will need to get them filled. I apparently have (according to my family), a high pain tolerance, so I don't know how bad the shot is, but I am scared about getting it! This will be my first time visiting this new dentist, and I don't want to give them the impression that I don't take very good care of my teeth. Any ideas as to why this has happened? I am afraid of getting the shot, so any tips?
