Open Question: Would time off for wisdom teeth removal be sick leave or holiday leave?

confused... Member since:February 22, 2008Total points:123 (Level 1)I'm due to have my bottom 2 wisdom teeth removed soon and i'm guessing i'll need some time off work afterwards to recover. My question is, would I need to take it as holiday (which I don't have any left) or as sick leave?I do technically have holiday booked which I haven't yet taken so I could cancel it and take it for this but I don't see why I should? by makeme_w... Member since:December 04, 2008Total points:665 (Level 2)I had four of my wisdom teeth removed two and a half weeks ago. I had to take sick leave, as I had a medical certificate - it does not count as a holiday, since it is not optional.
It took me a full week to recover, but of course, it may be a bit shorter for you, since you're only having two removed. Just a bit of advice: make sure to use plenty of ice packs! It reduces swelling :)

After tooth extraction you are meant to rest for several hrs and do no physical activity; I would say it is sick leave-having teeth pulled is minor operation (but makes you feel pretty miserable-i did anyway!)
Good luck, and take painkillers regularly-I had 5 days of pain :( and that was with just 1 being removed :(
