However, there are things you can do naturally to arrest the caries, and prevent the decay from progressing further. First, limit your consumption of acidic, and sugary foods. Next, eliminate frequent snacking (you should eat three meals a day, and not eat between meals, this allows your saliva to return to a neutral pH, which is not good for cariogenic bacteria, they like acidic pH to continue the destruction of your teeth). Brush and floss after every meal, using toothpaste with fluoride, which helps remineralize the natural tooth structures, and fight off bacteria. Again, this can help to slow the destructive process of the bacteria, but it is usually best to see a dentist to have the decay removed, the teeth restored, and taking the aforementioned nutritional and hygienic steps to prevent further decay.
