I am about to have my inlay put in, and I noticed there is a horizontal hairline crack just by the site this inlay is supposed to be put in. I am wondering, will it cause a problem with inlay placement? What can I do to make sure the part of tooth above the crack does not chip off?

I cannot afford the crown so I am wondering if that part of tooth chips off during the inlay placement -- can it be filled in with a composite?
