The toothpaste doesn't actually give the tooth new enamel or dentine as such it just protects them better.

Tooth whitening kits are notorious for stripping your enamel and making your teeth sensitive.

I just use Sensodyne Gentle Whitening as other whitening pastes are abrasive and also damage your teeth.

Or if you are in the US (as I'm not sure US has Sensodyne) Arm and Hammer are good but to be honest there are loads out there.
