I have removable expanders that look just like regular metal retainers. I have to wear them for 8 weeks and turn them only once per week. I can see a small gap forming between my two front teeth, and am wondering how long it takes for the gap to close. I have been told by my orthodontist that I will no be getting braces after the 8 weeks are over.

I have seen this question asked often for rapid palatal expanders, but not gradual ones. Is it possible to know how big the gap will be and how long it takes for it to close? Will it close on its own?
