6 year old dental trauma?
Hiya my 6 year old had a trauma to her front top tooth when she was 4. The tooth went grey and the orthodontist did an xray at the time which showed that it had not damaged her adult teeth above.
The damaged tooth dropped out about 3 months ago and no tooth has dropped down. I have taken her the dentist today and she tells me that just above where the tooth should come down the gum is swollen. There is a little bit of white showing in the hole where the tooth fell out. She says that she suspects that the root has been damaged which could make the tooth come outwards rather than downwards, and that there is nothing that can be done until she is 14. Obviously my daughter is really upset hearing this, she is very self-conscious. Is this correct. She has done an xray and I will get the results of this tomorrow so Im just hoping that this proves to be wrong, but just want to prepare myself for the worst. Many thanks Vicky
