Is there an alternative to mouth guards?

Five years ago the dentist prenscribed a rigid mouth guard because of my bruxism problem. I never wore was uncomfortable and I couldn't sleep with it. Recently I went to the dentist for a check up and he's prescribing the mouth guard again costing me a fortune and probably wil end up on my bedside table again. I've heard that there is a more comfortable mouth guard in the market but they don't sell it in my country but you can buy it over the internet but I don't know the name of it, I would like to mention it to my dentist. Anybody knows the name?? That would be a great help as my appointment is in a couple of hours and I don't want to commit myself with the dentist and I would like to explain to him clearly what it is and what is called.
Many thanks!!
