I had my wisdom teeth taken out about 6 days ago. Originally I was supposed to have only the two bottom teeth out, but by pure mistake, my oral surgeon took out all four. I was put on vicodin and penicillin. My face swelled up like a balloon. My cheeks were enormous, and the swelling only started to go down yesterday. I iced my face but it didn't help much. It got worse each day until about three days ago, then it stayed the same until yesterday and now the swelling is going down. I have two giant bruises on my jaw on both sides of my face. I know these are normal side effects.

But, I was supposed to be rinsing my mouth out with a prescribed mouth wash three times a day starting right after the surgery, which my lovely parents forgot to give me until day three. Now I have been rinsing my mouth with it. But I am wondering if I am healing correctly.

I have a foul taste in my mouth and I have very bad breath even though I carefully brush my front teeth and tongue, and the mouth wash is mint flavored. The half of the stitches in both of my two bottom gums have come out, but the other half are stuck in my gums. It's almost if my gums swelled over the stitches. My gums also have these bubbly white areas that are also on my cheeks back there. I cannot chew even with my two front teeth because my back gums are swollen and when I try to fully close my mouth my gums rub together and get irritated. I also can't fully open my mouth. I can only open it about halfway then I feel pain, and then I physically cannot open it anymore. And this is 6 days after the surgery.

This part is hard to explain. There is a part of my gums on both sides on the two bottom teeth where a flap of the gums is loose. In between my cheeks (which swelled inward into my mouth as well) and my gums, a thin piece of my gums is, i guess, loose. It is attached to the bottom of my mouth and the back of my mouth, but i can push it with my tongue to either my cheek or to my gums. I don't know if I should have that.

I am still in a lot of pain. My oral surgeon doesn't make follow up appointments unless you ask them and my mom doesn't want to. So I haven't been able to ask him. In your opinion, does it sound like I'm healing okay, or could there be an infection or anything.
