Open Question: should I be scared of getting braces?

My sister has braces so I know very well.

1.) I doubt it. The orthodontist needs to concentrate, plus you'll get asked whether it's tight enough. To bite down or other stuff to make sure it's fitted correctly. :)

2.) No you don't need a pain reliever.Putting on the braces doesn't hurt, it's getting used to them that's uncomfortable. Trust me, when the braces are taken OFF you you'll feel weird! :)

3.) You need to avoid toffee or anything that will stick to your braces. You'll have to chip a few foods up like apples. My sister got one stuck in her brace and pop one of the brackets off. They'll give you a leaflet telling you all about what should happen, what you should and shouldn't do and what the braces are doing.

4.) You'll have to start by brushing after every meal to remove any plaque and bits of food. :) You get used to it.

5.) No not really. just don't eat anything sticky or hard enough to break your braces. Brush after every meal and before bed and in the morning. That's it. :) Don't take into account what you're friends say, they're just trying to appear like they're suffering alot so they actually have something to talk about. Look forward to beautifully straight teeth at the end!!! :D

Personal experience with my sister. :)
