Clicking noises in my jaw?

So I recently noticed that when I talk or open my mouth my lower jaw makes a small clicking noise. Why is it making this noise and will it go away on it's own? Also Im thinking of breaking up with my boyfriend because if we kiss he will hear it and I will be embarrassed. Is that right to do?
