Open Question: Is it possible to suddenly get a bunch of cavities?

Open Question: Is it possible to suddenly get a bunch of cavities?

I'm 15, and I have never had a cavity before. Now, I can spot a small one and a very small on on each of my bottom first molars, and there might me more. I got my braces off about a year ago, and I remember my mom commenting on how yellow they looked. They are continuing to get more yellow, even though I brush 2 times a day a floss about once a week (I know, I could floss more). I recently starting using mouth wash, too.

Is it strange to get a lot of cavities from not having any before? My diet isn't bad, in fact I don't eat as much sugar as I did and I rarely drink soda. I am terrified and yet wanting to get the visit to the dentist this summer over with because I know they will say I have 2 or more cavities and will need to get them filled. I apparently have (according to my family), a high pain tolerance, so I don't know how bad the shot is, but I am scared about getting it! This will be my first time visiting this new dentist, and I don't want to give them the impression that I don't take very good care of my teeth. Any ideas as to why this has happened? I am afraid of getting the shot, so any tips?

Open Question: terrible taste in mouth?

Open Question: terrible taste in mouth?

Home >All Categories > Health >Dental >Open QuestionStephanie Stephani... Member since:June 01, 2011Total points:116 (Level 1)The past two days I have had an overwhelming bad taste in my mouth. It tastes like eupropean salt licorice for those of you who know it- for those that don't, black licorice and salt basically. I have been brushing my teeth nonstop and chewing mint flavored gum, etc, nothing is taking the taste away. It overpowers food, drink, everything. It's driving me crazy and I have no idea what is causing this. Anybody have any advice to get rid of it/what might be going on? I know it sounds silly but I'm starting to get a little concerned. Not sure if I should see a doctor or not.**additional details added after question posted: I have one wisdom tooth that came through already, but crooked, it's been cutting my cheek and causing pain. I have two impacted and the fourth is not in. I'm 22. I've been meaning to have them removed but I had back to back pregnancies and was unable to go under anesthesia. Also, I am on a few medications- I take a prenantal vitamin with DHA because of breastfeeding, I'm taking a green tea supplement, and I also take valtrex. At night I take tylenol pm amd melatonin for sleep.10 minutes ago

Open Question: Put to sleep for baby teeth extractions?

Open Question: Put to sleep for baby teeth extractions?

iIm 25 and have baby teeth, kinda shocked me. Im getting 5 baby teeth extracted tomorrow. I have the option of being put to sleep with general anesthesia during it also.

My question is , Do I need to be put out for baby teeth being pulled? Or will local be enough to curb any kind of pain id have from it. He said he could sedate me also if i wanted.

That's normal, it can continue bleeding for a while. Take a tea bag and run it under water, bite down gently on the area the tooth was extracted. This will stop the bleeding, it doesn't taste great (kinda bitter), but it will help. Hold it for maybe 15-20 min if you can. Then replace it with some damp gauze.

Good luck, and feel better!
